This magical lodge has had a connection with the mountains since the 1930’s when Elsie Dickson stood on the edge of the world captivated by the views of purple mountains encircling Kings Walden’s homestead. She said to Bill Tooley, “I never want to leave this place.” His reply, “Marry me and you never have to.” has set the tone of romance and enchantment ever since. The old manor house has been transformed into an elegant lodge for a lover’s hideaway or a tranquil retreat. Fountains, ponds, walkways and hidden corners of the famous landscaped garden all reflect or look onto the endless mountains beyond.
