With the first cut of a hand-made chisel, the storytelling begins. A sheltered overhang protects the stone pages telling tales of hunters… of shamans disappearing into the cracks of the rock to another dimension. We are only scratching the surface of the hidden layers of these ancient tales. Telescoping out from the stories on stone to the imposing sandstone plateau of the Makgabeng, the story weaves its way along the graceful curves of the Limpopo River, snaking past the ancient trade routes of Mapungubwe and Giyani. Here the rhythm is of gold beaten into the form of a golden rhino, the clicking sound of glass beads and the gentle chorus of womens’ hands against wet clay as the beer pot takes shape. Following the footprints of the country’s first people, the landscapes in Limpopo are a canvas, each telling a unique part of an ancient tale….from the furnaces of Thulamela to the tales of ivory at Crooks corner and spoor of living elephants celebrated in Kruger Park.
Our wanderlust is a story of the heart, creating connections and rediscovering the history inscribed on the bark of a 2000 year old tree in the ancient Woodbush forest. It is the finely woven threads of the fabric that bind us to each other, to ancient stories, and weave through the beautiful landscapes of the dramatic Waterberg mountains and the reedbeds of the Nylsvley floodplains. The flurried flight of the Striped Crake flows into the storm clouds releasing the urgent drumming of raindrops falling to sun-streaked landscapes where the fragrant scent of wet dust fills our senses.
Fall in love with Limpopo, from the rugged mountains and wetlands of the Waterberg-Nylsvley region to the mystical Venda and mighty Soutpansberg area. Turn East towards the Capricorn-Letaba region with Polokwane and Tzaneen holding down the corners of the map and the tourism hub of Magoebaskloof at the centre of it all. Or travel towards the Kruger2Canyons region where the wild heart of Limpopo is accessed through the portals of Phalaborwa and Hoedspruit. Our heartbeat takes up this pulse that is Limpopo and we step into the next story, as yet unwritten.
We are the lovers of Limpopo living out an epic love story.
Through immersive nature and cultural experiences, we encourage meaningful connection.
Impactful travel can change the world we live in and we want you to be part of that change.
